Dniester Bridge to Moldova – New Tender Announced

6 Май

Motor Roads Agency of Vinnytsia Region has declared bidding for the construction of the bridge over the river Dniester by Ukrainian-Moldovan state border near the residence places Iampol (Ukraine) and Cosăuţi (Moldova).

According to Interfax-Ukraina, as per the information shown by the public procurement online platform ProZorro, the expected cost of project amounts to 3.5Bn UAH (~125M USD). Under the tender conditions, the contracting company shall complete the viaduct construction prior to the end of 2022.

The deadline for bidding is 31 May, and the auction is to take place on 06 June.

The contractor having won the tender will provide both design documentation and building works. This pattern is going to enable saving time and cheapening the project realisation.

The bridge over Dniester will envisage two approaches to be built – 1.6 km from Ukrainian side and 5 km from Moldovan territory.

“Now the connection between two European states in the area is provided by a ferry crossing. Yet it fails for long to meet the modern demands and real needs of the nearby population. The bridge construction is a strategic priority. Simultaneously we renovate 137.5 km of the route – the most problematic parts for drivers. I.e. as soon as by the end of the year the way to the border will be comfortable to pass”, declared Head of Ukravtodor (Ukrainian State Roads Corporation) Oleksandr Kubrakov.

Let’s remind you that in January 2021 President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and President of Moldova Maia Sandu have signed Memorandum on Development of the Transport and Transit Potential of Ukraine and Republic of Moldova, in particular envisaging construction of the automotive thoroughfare between both capitals.
